conducting kids
Music Director Dr. Rob Tomaro is currently active in our school systems, bringing his original educational program “Conducting Kids” to area middle schools to support the BJSO's mission.
Aldrich Intermediate School band director, Glen Wilfong, says,“This is the second opportunity my students have had to participate in the Beloit Janesville Symphony's Conducting Kids program. On both occasions my students have both enjoyed and greatly benefited from the experience of conducting and being by their peers. Students gain a much greater understanding of the role of the conductor, the ideas the conductor seeks to non verbally communicate to the ensemble and the responsibility the individual members of the ensemble have to faithfully respond to the direction of the conductor. Students develop a much deeper vision of the world of music through exposure to Dr. Tomaro's insight and experiences, which he relates in an entertaining and engaging manner. I look forward to my program being included in the Conducting Kids program in the near future.”
